More like alliances if that's what you mean. Bianca is not one to confide openly with people - therefore, a "friend" is often no more than a pawn to her. Of course, Bianca cannot surely view everyone in this light, can she? She certainly comes close enough. There are few, few, that Bianca will call a true friend. To be able to develop a friendship with this pretty little princess, one typically will have to prove themselves, and that can vary. The positive of this situation is that although it is a difficult task to become more than a to to Bianca, it is well worth it; once you are in her favor, she will lavish your with adoration, gifts, and protection. After all, if you're worthy of her trust then you're valuable - and Bianca always protects whatever is valuable.
♕ ( COMPETITION ) Who doesn't have a rival or two? Bianca does, and she has no problem with it in the slightest. Rivals are just another obstacle for Bianca to take care of, and she will do it in the quietest, most sickeningly sweet way imaginable. Usually, Bianca will not bother too much with simple nuisances as they are unimportant and lack any significance to Bianca. But, once crossed, Bianca will not be one to forgive. She is the kind of person who will twist and turn a person inside out, and will usually find a way to do so without getting her fingers dirty. In many ways, Bianca is a classic mean girl: cool, coveted, and highly vindictive.
♕ ( ROMANCE ) True love has never been a reality for Bianca - not that she would dislike it. There will always be a part of her that adores romance and chivalry; however, love is a dangerous game and Bianca is often unsure of whether she really wants to play it. She is a coquette by nature, and will usually flirt with boys and lead them on in order to obtain a goal - more pawns, if you will. Any dates and casual boyfriends are never deemed acceptable by Bianca unless picked out for a very particular reason. The downside to this is that she only views relationships as a game...and whether or not she will ever be able to genuinely love someone without gaining something in return is ultimately left undecided.[/style] |

Hmmm. Frenemies? Bianca and Monroe share a startling amount of traits --- Monroe makes a point not to get too involved with people, and most of his "friends" are only really there to keep up appearances. He's also manipulative, though as of yet it's more for personal amusement than any kind of gain. He's a bit more trollish, though, and can be brash (he's a bit of a troublemaker)... but he usually tries to fit in and not get noticed too much.
So -- I think, given that they're both in the same House, they would - or at least Monroe would - probably -act- nice to each other, while trying to out-do each other as rivals? Monroe doesn't typically trust others, either, but it might be interesting if she led him on with the promise of friendship only to stab him in the back or whatever it is you'd like to do... or, of cousre, Monroe could do the same to her.
Or they could end up being legitimate friends, but that's... that's kind of scary, actually.
ERM. Sorry for the rambling and whatnot, but uh. ... Thoughts?

I can definitely see them being "frenemies" on a surface-level; since they have so much in common, they would probably be at a neutral stance. Anything closer may possibly result in a sort of conflict, since it's not unlikely that their personalities may clash a bit with them being similar and whatnot.
Since Monroe keeps to himself, I'm not sure how their relationship would progress. They would definitely act nice to each other, since they're both Slytherins. What would they be rivaling in exactly? I can see it because it's something that tends to be a reoccurring trait in Slytherin personalities, but Bianca is so material and prestige-focused, is that something Monroe has any interest in?
I absolutely adore like the idea of some sort of backstabbing happening...it's just so Bianca. Or even if Monroe did the same. I feel like Bianca may use him, but then I wonder what if something deeper like a friendship did come out of it? (Although I agree, a friendship between the two could be a bit...frightening. ) It may be something we would just need to RP out.
What do you think?? And ramble whenever you want! =D

Hmm. It's not so much that he literally keeps to himself as he doesn't trust people/let them get close. He'll talk to anyone that will let him (and sometimes those who don't, because he gets -bored- and what else is he supposed to do?), but the chances that he'll actually make friends are slim.
Monroe's got a pretty big ego, so while he's not focused entirely on material things, he likes to be seen as strong/intelligent/good at magic/etc, so um. Perhaps the rivalry could stem from there? I'm not sure, actually. xD Sorry. Of course, I can also see him pretending to be materialistic and collecting nice things for the sole purpose of showing off in an attempt to irritate Bianca.
If Bianca wanted to use him for whatever reason, that could go a few ways -- if Monroe found out, it would further enforce his idea that people are awful and he shouldn't trust anyone... or if he thinks he's actually made a friend who cares about him (which would be a difficult feat), he'd probably do just about anything for her. And that could be really interesting all by itself...
But yes, I agree, some threading might help. xD I was going to start an open thread somewhere tonight, any suggestions?

From that post, I just got so many ideas running through my head, especially if somehow she did convince him she was his friend. There's just so many things I could see going with that; it'd possibly be a drawn out plot, but it'd be really interesting to see how it plays out. I even wonder, if Monroe did anything for Bianca, would she then become dependent upon him to an extent? She may come to value and depend upon him more than she anticipated, and while this would contribute to Monroe's character development, it would also be a reason for Bianca to develop.
Thread suggestions? I think anything would be fine. We would just need to find someway for the two to get past a surface-level conversation...maybe somewhere obscure at some obscure time where they would have to question each other? XD

C: Long and drawn out plots are my favorite, especially when both sides get some character development out of it. I imagine if Monroe genuinely thought they were friends, he'd return the favor and try to help her out when he could -- so there's potential for real feelings to evolve there?
ANYWAY. I very much like your thread idea. Perhaps they bump into each other in the library at two in the morning or um. Monroe likes to lurk around the classrooms (because he's a creeper like that) and practice spells and things, and sometimes he sneaks down to the lake to practice shifting into his animagus form --
but i've suddenly got a wonderful idea for a thread in which he's stuck in shark!form in one of the baths because that would be wonderfully hysterical /saves for later

AHHHH. I actually couldn't stop laughing with that last idea! Please please please promise at some point we can RP that out - I don't care when, but at some point, because that would be brilliant; it would also be a nice break from the heaviness and drama that comes with themes such as manipulation and betrayal.
And real feelings could definitely develop! Possibly some intimacy? I may be getting ahead of myself though. Let's get to RPing and see where this goes. Would you want to start the thread then?

Of course of course~ And -I- certainly wouldn't mind-
SURE, I can start. C: Anywhere in particular you'd like the thread to be?

Now I'd be interested if these two got into some epic passive-aggressive trollfest with each other because Daniel's also crazy vindictive. Not sure how this would come about but I assume it'd be friends of theirs getting hurt and the both of them stepping in to 'fix' things.
