He certainly would like a few -- who doesn't want a friend? -- but his constant worrying that people hate him or are just as manipulative as he leaves him generally cynical about others.
Most friends he has will probably be in passing - acquaintances from class or from the House. He's rarely outright mean and would probably know a few people. I'd like him to have a few close friends, perhaps that he's already met in earlier years at Hogwarts, or perhaps someone new that he can meet this year. Older students are more likely to work here, but I'm up for anything and Monroe certainly isn't against befriending younger students/etc.
When he is truly friends with someone, he is loyal to the last, and though he might still lie and play games, he never brings harm. He is actually rather reliable, and would probably take a bullet for the very rare few he calls friend -- because he so rarely opens up, these people would essentially hold his heart.
Basically: Looking for close friends, acquaintances/passing classmates, partners in crime, study buddies.[/style]
[STYLE=border-bottom:1px dashed #602B2B; color:#CF4472; font-family:georgia; font-style:italic; text-align:right; margin-bottom:-15px; margin-top:115px;]our intertwined hearts will never tear apart,[/style] [STYLE=font-family:georgia; color:#D77696; text-align:right; margin-bottom:-23px;]( LOVERS LOVERS LOVERS )[/style] [STYLE=width:450px; height:100px; overflow:auto; background-color:#e1e1e1; color:#111111; border-right:2px solid #F1F1F1; border-bottom:2px solid #F1F1F1; text-align:justify; padding:10px; float:right;]Monroe's just the tiniest bit afraid of intimacy. He's never been with anyone -- he's never even hugged someone that's not direct family -- and doesn't think much about romantic kinds of things. Sometimes, of course, he wishes he had someone to 'spend time' with... but he can take care of himself. Physical aspect aside, he's also afraid to let himself love someone... but I'm not against a love-based plot for him. Be warned, though, it'd be long and drawn out and require much coaxing to get Monroe out of his emotional shell.
Other than that -- again, I'm up for absolutely anything -- Monroe might also be open to flirting with others and leading them on, only to drop them after never being interested in the first place (because he gets bored and sometimes such games amuse him).[/style]
[STYLE=border-bottom:1px dashed #602B2B; color:#A01515; font-family:georgia; font-style:italic; text-align:right; margin-bottom:-15px; margin-top:115px;]who was closed off and dejected,[/style] [STYLE=font-family:georgia; color:#B65555; text-align:right; margin-bottom:-23px;]( ENEMIES ENEMIES ENEMIES )[/style] [STYLE=width:450px; height:100px; overflow:auto; background-color:#e1e1e1; color:#111111; border-right:2px solid #F1F1F1; border-bottom:2px solid #F1F1F1; text-align:justify; padding:10px; float:right;]Though he's not obvious about it, Monroe likes to lie and cheat and manipulate -- not always malicious, but just to soothe his boredom -- and he likes to play pranks. Enemies would likely stem from being victims of said pranks... Or perhaps your character could provide Monroe with an academic rival? And then there's always competition and animosity between Houses (though Monroe doesn't much buy into that). Again, I'm very open to anything, so. C: If you have any ideas, please share.
If he is offended in some way, though, Monroe can be brutal. While he doesn't typically set out to cause deliberate harm, he certainly knows how to, and has no qualms when it comes to turning his sharp tongue on others.[/style]
[STYLE=border-bottom:1px dashed #602B2B; color:#444415; font-family:georgia; font-style:italic; text-align:right; margin-bottom:-15px; margin-top:115px;]the fleeting life of a four-petaled flower,[/style] [STYLE=font-family:georgia; color:#767655; text-align:right; margin-bottom:-23px;]( OTHERS OTHERS OTHERS )[/style] [STYLE=width:450px; height:100px; overflow:auto; background-color:#e1e1e1; color:#111111; border-right:2px solid #F1F1F1; border-bottom:2px solid #F1F1F1; text-align:justify; padding:10px; float:right; margin-bottom:15px;]For the final time: I'm very up for anything! I love all sorts of plots, especially long-term ones, and ones that involve pain and/or development of my character. I'm awful, really, I love to torture my bros. :D
I don't have anything specific in mind at the moment, but I'll probably come back here and update this later. Look forward to posting with you~[/style]

soooo, Hydra is in a shell of her own, though hers is because she's afraid of everyone else. I could see her as having kept away from Monroe for the most part so far (since they're in the same year) She could definitely serve as that academic rival, though if they were ever in a competition she would be terrified of what he could do to her if she won. She wouldn't take being pranked too well either, so even if he's not very out there as far as being mean, she would see him as being just the same. If we get a thread or two we can see where that leads I've also got Chris Chambers, a 3rd year mudblood hufflepuff who ALSO likes prankings. I could honestly see the two of them as rivals similar to Peter Pan and Captain Hook, where they're always trying to get the better of each other (though without the whole cutting off the hand or the crocodile) I think this should prove quite interesting ^-^

:DD I quite like the idea of Hydra and Monroe being academic rivals -- I'd wager he'd even go out of his way to goad her into some kind of reaction, because he's a troll like that and anyone described as "jumpy" certainly makes for a good target. They might also work well together as classmates -- maybe they can study together or something -- but yesyes, let's thread them and see how it goes. c:
Also. xDD I've just read Chris's bio and he and Monroe definitely need to meet. They could try to outprank each other and it would be glorious and I just realized they have the same birthday --
Yeeees. This has the potential to be very amusing, indeed. I imagine Monroe, at least, would start leaving some call sign or signature at the scene of his larger practical jokes, to challenge Chris to bring it on. har har they're going to get in so much trouble B|
Any particular place you'd like to start, for either of them?

what are his views on blood purity and muggle-borns?

Hmm. xD I suppose I should have put that in there. He knows that it's an "issue", but he's pretty apathetic about it. He's a half-blood himself, but he doesn't hate/love anyone for their lineage. He's more interested in himself.
I suppose depending on who talks to him, he might be swayed to one side of the argument or another.

I was thinking of maybe plotting with you, but with such a stance as his, it would be difficult to really decide our relationship.
We should most certainly do an rp together.

Well, I certainly hope to plot with Monroe! Rhyme. If not because they are both Animagus, then... I don't know! Harriett's animagus form is a white Husky. I don't know if they should be friends though. Their personalities don't exactly mix well. Harriett is the type to overlook other people's bad qualities, so I guess it depends on what Monroe would think of her. What do you think? :3

both ideas sound excellent ^-^ I have the next 2 days off so I can get started on the threads then. I do like the idea of Hydra and Monroe getting along as far as being study partners. I was originally imagining her as keeping her distance, but I like this better.
as for chris HELLZ YEAH! I could see him going a step up and just doing graffiti on the walls XD and it wouldn't just be "chris was here" it would actually be a full on artistic tag - no name, but it would still be obvious who did it

HARRIET - mmm, animagi~ maybe all the students who've studied to become animagi already know each other? that could be a good catalyst for them to meet, perhaps... and i suppose it also depends on what sort of mood monroe is in when they're around each other -- if he's bored, he's more likely to act up or pull something stupid. he'd probably find harriet a bit boring and try to get her to lighten up (see: try to pull pranks on her), so um. ... x3 well, what do you think?
HYDRA & CHRIS - alrighty, sounds awesome. c: did you want to start the thread(s), then?

Pulling pranks on Harriett? As nice as she is, I think she'd overlook it, BUT of course nobody likes being punked!! That would make their relationship a bit strained. I'm interested to see where this would go!

So for anyone who's interested, I have an open thread on the grounds for a potential source of meeting.
DANIEL - So Monroe has a bit of a mancrush on him after his speech in the Great Hall thread, so um. That might work into it somehow? He gets a kick out of people who are just as - if not more - sarcastic than he is and he'd probably try and goad Dan into another of his speeches if he could. Or whatever.
I'm not entirely sure how they'd get on, either, but uh. HMM. What does Daniel like to do in his free time? xD
HARRIET - ALL OF THE PRANKS. ERM. c: yes, we should thread. you could either jump in on my open thread with sophia, or maybe uh. .... lolidk. any ideas?

Haha wow, that could definitely be a factor. Let's see... in his free time he can be found practicing on the quidditch field, hanging out with the music kids, attempting to get muggleborn to pass him their latest muggle pop culture paraphernalia and and possibly attempting freeform rap which he is horrendously crappy. Also, I suppose he practices spells that he finds useful but that no one else thinks would be and writers letters to his bro (but only once a week and only a short sentence at that). As to other things I am undecided lol.

Enemies or Lovers or Both
Yes, being one of the few fellow Sixth Years, I'd certainly like to plot with you. I can see one of two things, Lovers or Enemies. As he is a cheater and manipulator, it wouldn't be hard for them to become enemies. I'm sure he could have done something in prior years to piss her off. Or, at that, he could have done something to one of her siblings. At that, Daphne herself can be disrespectul. If he's ever been given authority, she could have disrespected that, even if it were just in class for one day.
On the other hand, something that I also see as possibly interesting would be if they developed a relationship. Being the one who rps Professor Avery as well, I know that if he sticks with her he will be getting into the Dark Arts, something that Daphne doesn't care much for. If they have a relationship before he gets deep into the arts, I can see conflict arising between the two of them and them becoming enemies. How would they start a relationship? Well, think about it. They're both gorgeous. <3 Mutual attraction or something along those lines. Or maybe they both have crushes on each other and other people tell them.
Either way, enemies or friends, i see interesting plots.

DANIEL - hrr. well, monroe's a beater for the slytherin team -- maybe they could run into each other on the field?
DAPHNE - OKAY SO LET'S SEE. obviously enemies could work xD but i do kind of like the idea of a failed romance so um.
since they're the same year, they've probably been in a lot of the same classes, so they could definitely know each other that way. monroe's mean streak has become more pronounced recently, so they could definitely have been friends, if not friendly, given they met first year or something. ... and i'm not sure how to word this, so forgive my rambling. xD maybe they could be close, but never really. idk, pursue anything past friendship, for whatever reason (monroe's a scaredycat), and just be all 'ARGH UNRESOLVED TENSION ARRRRGH' because. ... that's... fun. and then maybe fifth or sixth year he tries to be all "HEY SUP WITH THIS" but she's all "HEY YOU TORTURED THOSE KIDS WTF BRO" and he could be all "BUT I THOUGHT YOU LIKED ME" and then drama and then bianca's going to stab him in the back at some point and he's going to be a poor, sad boy :c
IDEK WHAT I'M TYPING, BRO. THE TELEVISION. THE TELEVISIONNNNNNN.
OR WHATEVER ELSE, IT ALL SOUNDS FUN

Weirdos and Possible Lovers
So, I k now we discussed this on AIM, but I still wanted to get it posted up here and iron everything out. First Year at Hogwarts, they met, but they didn't particularly like each other. Daphne can be somewhat of a jerk, for one, and their personalities conflicted with each other. Daphne may have pulled some pranks on him, mostly jokes, and he may or may not have done the same to her.
However, by their third year, Daphne realized how sexy Monroe looked in his Quidditch uniform, and Monroe probably noticed the same about Daphne. Hormones got the best of each other and they were able to become competitive friends. They took Quidditch very seriously and would rub it in each other's faces when they won, but this was all in good fun. They sometimes ate lunch together, and perhaps did group work in class together, however they weren't best friends, just pretty good friends.
Early on in their sixth year, they went to the Quidditch pitch together (with permission, I might add) in order to prep the field for a mock match between Gryffindor and Slytherin. After setting it up, they ended up goofing off on their broomsticks and playing Quidditch. They ended up spending a while there and ultimately ended up letting their hormones get the best of them and shared a complete union of intimacy. However, following that night, the two haven't really been able to talk to each other very well. It's always awkward. Daphne isn't sure what to make of their relationship at this point, but it's pretty certain that they both have feelings for each other.
