It was a lovely Friday morning as Professor Greengrass went up the stairs to the Charms room. It was so lovely that the professor had took it upon herself to actually put on her official teaching Robes (which she had altered to look a bit more flattering). She now had her nose in a book that she had written in about the day's teaching for the third years. There had been a bit of an accident in her previous class with the first year students, but there were always accidents with that bunch, to say that accidents wouldn't happen with beginners was foolhardy. Her feet were resting on top of the desk and she was leaning back in her chair non-nonchalantly. Her hair was twisted around her pointer finger as she twiddled her finger around it. The woman waited for her third year students to arrive for their lesson.

Lori had been anxious for this particular charms lesson for some time. She loved this class above most others, perhaps aside from Defense Against the Dark Arts. She liked all of her classes which required wands above the rest of her other classes. She was much more talented in those classes as well.
Of course, Lori wore her Slytherin robes, as would any Slytherin on a school day during the week. She entered into the classroom and took a seat on the desk in the very front in a class at the far left. She didn't like being in the center much.
"Good morning Professor Greengrass." she greeted the woman with a warm smile. She then placed her books on the desk.

When you are told that you are meant to be successful, more often or not, you believe it. It even somewhat motivates you to strive for nothing less then perfection. Causing you to push through the pain and the stress in till you find yourself on the top. That kind of achievement gives a sense of completion and even pride. But only when its earned through your own means...on your own terms. This is different when you are told and forced to work towards perfection.
Legacy. This was what Callum Malfoy was raised upon. He was to continue a tradition that his family had held for generations. One of cold thinking and superiority. He was act as though he was better than anyone. That he could crush anyone, out think anyone. While in truth, he was just as common as everyone else. Blood was the one thing that divided them, and even that didn't matter. His appearance and everything had to represent his family name. There was only one problem, he didn't care.
Callum had made that clear his first year. He shrived to only be average. He didn't work any harder than he needed in class, nor did he allow himself to practice any more than it was required to understand a spell. Despite his parents constant meddling, lectures and even punishments, Callum was dedicated to this. He wanted nothing to do with his family's way of thinking. Of course, that didn't mean he was slow. The boy simply went at his own pace in the classroom. But in secret, he did study and work hard. But in class, he was relaxed, carefree.
Such was the reason why he took his time getting to class today. With his Slytherin robe half open, the boy slowly buttoned it before entering the classroom. From there, he took his place in the back of the class, sitting at a table that was close to a window. While putting his books down upon his desk ,he noticed Miss Gaunt at the front of the class. Personally, he saw her a teacher's pet, but everyone had their joys. Perhaps she really an interest in this class or other goals. Either way, it didn't matter to much to him. Though her hair did look nice.
"Good Morning Professor...."
Late on his greeting. He was getting started early today. Perhaps if he got in trouble, he could get sent to his room. That would allow him to get some reading done. Hell, might even manage to find a way outside of these walls despite the lock-down.

"Good morning, students."
The Professor closed the book forcefully and threw it on her desk with a loud bang. She stood up and cat walked down the rows, disappointed in the low number of students. She understood what day it was and that many would not be showing up for the class, but she was glad that her best students were there. That meant there wouldn't be much failure in using the spell she was about to teach. Professor Greengrass turned around in the middle of the room and faced her desk. She flicked her wand forward.
"Carpe Retractum."
Pulling her wand back like a fisherman would pull his rod, a rope shot out and grabbed the book that was laying on her desk. It shot towards the Professor as she retracted the rope back to her. She caught the book and the magical rope disappeared as it finished retracting. The Professor demonstrated the movement again. Seize and pull.
"Seize and pull. Today you will be learning a special little charm called Carpe Retractum. As you have witness, the spell creates a magical rope that is retractable. This can be used to pull objects, or it can pull you towards the object you affix the charm to. Most use it for inanimate objects, but there is no real limit to what you can use it with, as long as it is within a controlled distance. Carpe Retractum. Seize and pull. I want each of you to try this with your own books." [/color]
