Just a couple more days before Christmas. The Weasley family had gone home for the holidays, however, now they were close to the school once more in the village of Hogsmeade doing a bit of shopping. Of course, the kids hadn't had much time to buy gifts as they had been in school earlier, but now that they were free, they had a bit more time. The Weasley mother had given Daphne and Quinn money for the specific task of picking a present to represent the children for their father. And the Weasley father had done the same to the other siblings, except for their mother.
"So... What do you think Dad'll want?" Daphne asked her little brother who walked alongside her. All the while, the two struggled to remain close to each other, the streets were packed and if they got too far apart, they could easily lose each other. When Daphne looked to her side, for a moment her view of her brother was blocked by a quite fat guy to her right, however, after he walked past, she saw her brother a couple feet to her side once again.
"Here, hold my hand, little bro.. Y'know. So you don't get lost," Daphne said as she reached her right hand out to take her brother's left.

Their father was a pretty easy guy to shop for, which meant that no matter what they ended up picking out, he’d probably be happy with just about anything. That made things easy. ”Socks, maybe. Does he need any more of those?” he answered, just before his view of his older sister was apparently blocked momentarily by a passerby. Hogsmeade really was packed at this time of the year, whether that was because everyone waited last minute to buy each other presents, or simply because the little town was the perfect picture of a festive holiday town, Quinn could not be sure. Either way, he was not bothered by it.
The teenager nearly laughed out loud when his sister offered her hand out toward his. He didn’t, however, and merely shoved his gloved hands into his coat pockets for protection from her. ”Yeah, no thanks,” Quinn rolled his eyes, it wasn't as if he was seven anymore and her ten, that had been a long time ago. ”I think I’ll be fine.”

"Awww... Wittle bwo is all gwown upppp!" Daphne hissed mockingly. She reached forward and placed the cold fingers of her left hand on his cheek. She then began to pinch them playfully for a few moments. And being that his hands were in his pocket for even a moment, she'd certainly get a second or so of pinching before he'd be able to push her away... or punch her, if he attempted to.

”You’re just too funny,” Quinn commented in a tone dripping with sarcasm. Unfortunately, Daphne was able to catch him off guard and used that advantage to pinch his cheeks with her cold unrelenting fingers. He tried to pull his face out of her range, but when that didn’t work he was forced to hastily pull his hands out of his coat pocket and attempt to bat his sister’s arms away.
The younger Weasley regarded his sister with a cold look. ”Now that you’ve had your fun, do you think we can actually get back to finding dad’s present?” he snapped.

Daphne soon had her hand shooed away by her brother. She had been expecting that he would at least shoo her away, so it wasn't really that bad. She wasn't going to let go of his cheeks, after all, until she either got bored or he did some action to separate the two. He no doubt knew how far she would take it.
"Socks?" she questioned rhetorically. "You actually think he'd want socks? You must not care about Dad."
Of course, Daphne was joking to some extent. She hoped her brother cared about their father. They were a family after all. Still, she didn't think that socks would be a very good gift for him.
"Just because Dad says that he's happy with no matter what we get doesn't mean it's true. We have 10 galleons to spend on him, and you want to get him socks? That's selfish. You'd probably want to spend the rest of the money on yourself."

Quinn shoved his hands back into the pockets of his coat. Stubbornly, he was refusing to respond to Daphne’s comment about not caring for their father. It was stupid of her to even think of that, let alone say it aloud to him… was that what she really thought though? Obviously the teenager cared about his family, he wasn’t heartless.
”No, I wouldn’t, that’s dumb. Don’t be stupid,” Quinn stuck his tongue out at his sister to at least somewhat show that he wasn’t actually calling her stupid or anything like that, it was only her accusation that had been dumb. He withdrew his hands from their respective pockets and shrugged in an exaggerated way. ”I’m just a bad shopper… and a bad gift-giver… and what does dad even like that he doesn’t already have?”

"Yep, all grown up," Daphne said quite sarcastically upon her brother sticking his tongue out at her. Her first instinct was to smash the palm of her hand against his jaw and make him bite his tongue. She would have done that if she were two years less mature, but she decided against it despite the temptation she was feeling.
Now Daphne began to think of what they could actually buy for their father. There were so many interesting places around here. A sports shop was among the most intriguing of them.
"We could get him a Comet 260. What do you think?" Daphne asked. Although, at this point she was already heading toward the sports shop.

So then, what was there? Well… their father did enjoy muggle objects and the like as far as Quinn could tell, but would they even have any of that stuff in this tiny village? Of that the teenager was unsure. It was a magical town after all, so he assumed they wouldn’t have much. Besides, muggle gadgets were mostly useless anyway.
He was glad his sister had had a good idea about what to do for their father’s present. It was as good as any, better in fact, definitely better than socks… Luckily, this task had not been left for Quinn to do on his own. He soon followed after Daphne, who was already well on her way toward the shop that likely carried the broom she had mentioned. ”I think he’ll be really happy with it,” the boy nodded pleasantly when he caught up. ”Do you think we’ll have enough?” clueless when it came to money, Quinn had never even been trusted with this much money before… that fact actually remained to be true too, since Daphne was the one carrying it and not him.

"For a Comet 260? Much more than enough," Daphne answered. It would be enough, yes, but she did wish that she could have enough to purchase a Nimbus 2000 instead. It would have been so much better. He would be able to do any cool tricks on a 260, but then again, Daphne couldn't see her dad as doing many tricks anyway.
It wasn't long before Daphne had finally made her way to the Sports shop. But rather than go inside, Daphne stopped by the window and looked inside. There she saw it on display, the Nimbus 2000 in the front, a Comet 260 behind it to the left, and to the right, a Stormcloud. Unfortunately, the Nimbus certainly wouldn't be within their price range.
"There's the Comet," Daphne said, pressing her pointing finger against the class in the direction of the 260.

”Oh,” Anything was nicer than the broom their dad owned currently. ”Nice,” And all the ones that Quinn could see through the window looked pretty good, they all had nice appearances to them although some of the ones on display were definitely overpriced, it was insane. Too bad, Weasleys could only dream of being able to own something as expensive as the nimbus, it would never happen in reality.
Quinn pushed through the door, entering the shop, they were there and had the money so there was no reason to linger outside looking like children longing for an overly expensive toy. ”Could we get a Comet 260?” the teenager asked the store clerk as soon as he had managed to locate him within the messy store. "Gift wrapped, if you do that sort of thing here."

And now it seemed that Quinn was the one rushing ahead. It was somewhat funny. He wasn't even the one holding the money. After having only taken a step inside the door, Daphne halted and crossed her arms. She considered just waiting back and letting her brother look like a fool for having cut in front of the rest of the store's busy line and not even having the money to purchase anything with him.
Daphne approached her brother and grabbed him by the ear. She pulled him along with her as she headed to the back of the line.
"Hold your horses, Woolsey. There's a line, you know? And that's rude."

The store clerk had done little more than glare at Quinn, odd as that seemed to him at the time, when suddenly the teenager felt a forceful tug and a stinging on his ear. ”Ow ow ow! That hurts, let go!” It felt as though Daphne was going to tear his ear right off, he had no choice but to be painfully dragged along wherever she chose to walk to.
”Hey! What’s your problem?” he wasn’t sure what was worse, being embarrassed in front of a huge line of people, or the fact that he had somehow been too oblivious to notice them in the first place. Well… he noticed them now… now that he and his sister were standing at the back of a very long line while his ear burned in pain.
Let it also be known that his sister had called him by his first name, a name that she was well aware he hated. It was embarrassing just to be called by that name, she had to know that. Most people at school didn’t even know his first name as long as he could help it, that was a good thing, and he wanted to keep it that way. ”And don’t call me that.”

"Aww, but the name is just as cute as you are," Daphne teased him a bit more. However, now that they were in the back of the line, she released his ears from her grasp. She couldn't help other than to laugh at how silly her brother was. It wasn't quite silly in the sense that she was, but rather it was his uptight attitude that made her chuckle.
Regardless, she wrapped her arms around him lovingly and held him in a tight hug in order to show him that she was only teasing. Though, of course he already knew that. After a hug which would last only a few seconds, she released him.
"I woooooove you."

He would forgive the hug, it was brief enough that he could stand it despite how frustrated he had become toward his sister. Quinn decided that she just really enjoyed pushing all of his buttons.
The line moved up one step, one person down who got to go home with their purchase… and only a few dozen more people to go before it was the Weasley siblings’ turn. This was going to take forever. ”We should’ve gone to a store with a shorter line…” he mumbled, trying to ignore Daphne’s babyfied-way of telling him that she loved him.
”So what d’ya think the others are getting for mom?” Quinn actually began to ponder that himself now that he had brought the question forth. Knowing Rhonnie, she probably wanted to buy the entirety of Hogsmeade for their mother and nothing less.

Daphne expressed some degree of sarcastic irritation following her brother's comment about picking a shorter line. It was really just a huff, but it said everything. She took it of course as the reason they should pick a shorter line being that they wouldn't have to spend as much quality time together. But these were the holidays! They were supposed to spend much much time together.
"I don't know, why are you asking me?" Daphne sniped. Well, obviously she didn't know, right? She wasn't with them, and she hadn't spoken with anyone about it. She was simply glad that she got to go pick a gift as a group of two instead of a group of four. This was much better only having to convince one person that your gift idea was good.
"Also, you never told me you love me back," Daphne said, now turning to look at her brother.
"Tell your big sister you love her."

It was just a question that he'd asked, but whatever… Their mom liked boring things, so that’s probably what she was getting for Christmas, something boring. It didn’t really matter enough to think about too much, that's why they were buying dad's present and not hers.
And now Daphne was getting all stubborn over nothing. Honestly, spending ‘quality time’ with her had not been on his mind, but now he was just wishing that this whole shopping trip would be over sooner rather than later. She had a way of making waiting in a simple line seem almost… unbearable.
Quinn shrugged his shoulders at his sister when she turned to face him. ”I do,” he didn’t have to say it out completely to get his point across, did he? It all meant the same thing.

Somehow his confession didn't seem the least bit believable. It almost made Daphne wonder whether he cared for her or not. She liked to think that he did, as he was her little brother... or... equally sized brother anyway. At the very least, he should be looking up to her... or straight at her. Whichever. The point is, he was supposed to admire his older sister.
"Say it for real this time!" Daphne said, this time nicking his neck between her index finger and thumb. She pinched it quite tightly to say the very least, and she pulled to make the pain increase slightly.
"Say the whole thing."

Jeez, what was he thinking? What was she thinking? They were in a crowded place... for a Christmas present! ”N—agh! Oww, damn it…!” he cried out in pain. It only served to make the pinching and pulling worse when he tried to pull away from her. ”Fine, I love you, duh you’re my sister,” Was it too much to ask that she let go of his neck right about now? Quinn really had spoken the truth, even though the exact words had to be forced out of him. He loved all of his siblings, it was just stupid to say it aloud when family members should already know that sort of thing without having to question it.
”I’m sorry, alright? God, you’re so violent,” Well... it was true. One shopping trip and Daphne had already attacked him, what, three times? He was her younger brother, she sure had a funny way of showing that she loved him as she had said.

"Aw, well isn't that nice of you. That's what every sister wants to hear," spoke Daphne with a sarcastic sweetness. Well, of course she did want to hear it, but having to force it out of him was an effort she knew she shouldn't have needed to take. She loosened her pinching on his neck and returned her hands down at her side.
"And I'm not violent. Don't act like that hurt you. You're a big boy," Daphne attested. She was certain it was true. And this year, he was even on the quidditch team. She expected him to be tough, and she believed that he was, elsewise she wouldn't have let him on the team.
"Someone as dainty and small as me couldn't possibly hurt you, right?" She added, again with a somewhat sarcastic tone, even though she didn't believe it was far from the truth. She leaned toward him and hugged him once again.
"If anything, it's just a touch of affection."

Quinn raised his hand to rub the sore spot on his neck. Not violent? Funny, he had a few new bruises to prove otherwise, not that he was going to complain any further about them or anything, but still… In his book, pinching and pulling weren’t signs of affection when they came from your sister, it was the dreaded hug that was meant for that and, oh look, here she was pulling him into another one. ”Whatever,” in turn, he lightly wrapped his arms part of the way around Daphne, that way she couldn’t later say that he hadn’t hugged her back.
”Yeah, you’re way too dainty,” Quinn commented sarcastically. His sister, same size as him and captain of the Gryffindor quidditch team, yeah she was real dainty... what a joke.
