First year spells
- Arania Exumai: The spider-killing curse. It kills spiders on contact. Weaker versions can be performed to shoot spiders away rather than kill them.
- Flipendo: The Knock-Back Jinx, used to push the target.
- Glacius: A spell with great range, can freeze things to ice and can be
- Lumos: Creates a narrow beam of light that shines from the wand's tip, like a torch.
- Nox: Turns off the light produced by Lumos.
Second year spells
- Conjunctis: A curse that causes great pain to the victim's eyes.
- Diffindo: Tears the target or a specific area on the target.
- Reparo: Repairs an object destroyed by non-magical means.
- Rennervate: Revives a stunned person.
- Langlock: Glues the subject's tongue to the roof of their mouth.
Third year spells
- Bubblio: Puts a large bubble of air around the head of the user. Used as a magical equivalent of a breathing set.
- Expelliarmus: This spell is used to disarm another wizard, typically by causing the victim's wand to fly out of reach. It can also throw the target backwards when enough power is put into it.
- Flagrante: Causes any object affected to burn human skin when touched.
- Stupefy: Stuns victim. If used too forcefully, it will put the victim in an unconscious state.
- Incendio: Sets target on fire
Fourth year spells
- Bombarda: Causes an explosion similar to a grenade.
- Confringo: A spell which emits a beam of light causing any inanimate object it comes in contact with to explode.
- Levicorpus: The victim is dangled upside-down by their ankles, sometimes accompanied by a flash of light.
- Serpensortia: Materializes a serpent before the caster.
- Protego: The Shield Charm causes minor to moderate jinxes, curses, and hexes to rebound upon the attacker.
Fifth year spells
- Accio: This charm summons an object to the caster, potentially over a significant distance. It can be used in two ways: by casting the charm, and then naming the object desired, or by pointing the wand at the desired object during or immediately following the incantation to "pull" it toward the user.
- Crucio: Inflicts intense pain on the recipient of the curse. Many describe the pain as hot knives being driven into their skin.
- Immobulus: Makes the target incapable of movement. The victim will only be able to blink and speak.
- Salvio Hexia: A spell which can be used defensively to rebound hexes and spells cast upon the user. It may also be applied to barrier charms to give them the ability to rebound hexes.
- Shieldus Eradicus: Emits a red light from the wand which destroys average protective barrier charms on contact. Destroying more powerful shield charms can be accomplished by a group effort.
Sixth year spells
- Brackium Emendo: The tip of the wand, when pointed at a broken limb, can mend the bone. If used incorrectly, it can make the bone disappear altogether.
- Disillusio: Causes objects and people to become invisible. This spell cannot be used on one's self and wears away in due time. The spell does not make objects invisible to people who are certain something is hidden.
- Fianto Duri: A spell which causes magical shields to double as physical shields to prevent someone from passing through.
- Sectumsempra: A dark spell that creates large, blood-oozing gashes on the subject as if said subject had been "slashed by a sword".
- Imperio: One of the three Unforgivable Curses. It places the subject in a dream-like state, in which he or she is utterly subject to the will of the caster. However, those who are strong willed may learn to resist it. The use of this curse on an unwilling human results in capital punishment or life sentence in Azkaban.
Seventh year spells
- Obliviate: Used to erase memories of recent events.
- Fiendfyre: A dark magic spell. Fiendfyre is seemingly unstoppable cursed fire whose flames take the shape of fantastic creatures that appear to stalk those caught in its path. Having control over this spell requires an incredibly dark heart that is void of love. If one does not have control over this spell, it will often backfire. It can also destroy Horcruxes.
- Vulnera Sanentur: Causes wounds and gashes to heal up and any blood to return to the victim.
