harlan's not able to lie very well because of this reason, and that he's not a quick thinker. he likes to ponder a lot before he actually speaks. just going over a few times to make sure that it doesn't sound completely stupid (though sometimes he just gets a fire in his pants and just spits out whatever he actually is thinking). the fact that harlan can't speak well doesn't mean that he isn't a good leader. he's also a follower, but if the world were all deaf, he'd be a really good leader. he's responsible, and thinks about the emotions rather than just making decisions with logic.
also, because harlan is a god-awful liar and clumsy speaker, he can't pick up people's lies very well. he's an extremely easy person to persuade, and still very naïve. when he was younger he often got pranks pulled on him, at hogwarts and at home with his siblings. he blushes frequently for his stupidity afterwards. his face and ears turn as red as his ears in the common weasley way. harlan can easily fool himself though. about a year or two back he discovered that he was attracted to boys. he knows he is, but hasn't told a soul, he's buried it in himself so now he even believes the single lie he's ever told in his life.
it's not that harlan cares what people think (well he does, but it's not the whole) but more about his family.
in any sort, harlan is fiercely protective of his family and his family name. and yes he does get angered easily. it's not difficult to tell harlan's emotions because he wears his heart on his sleeve. while he does occasionally think with his head (most times after he's already made a decision using his heart) his heart does lead the way more times than not. when harlan makes a decision he usually sticks to it because it's so rare that he ever makes a decision for himself. but most times, he's undecided and has other people do it for him.[/ul]
