Jess && Vin

I could easily see Vin and Jess being friends. They're from the same house and a part of the same year. However, for Jess you must understand that she is incredibly lazy about all things not related to school work. She doesn't talk much and she mostly keeps to herself as well. I don't think this would particularly stop her from having friends though, so long as her friends are the ones who instigate the socialization. Aside from this, Jess wouldn't shy away from sitting next to you at lunch time or in classes, and she is more than capable of holding a conversation.

As of this year, however, Jess has taken a fancy in the Dark Arts (and this is the first year dar arts have been taught in Hogwarts). I don't know if this would affect their relationship, though it is worth noting.

this sounds really good. since they're in the same year, maybe they are dorm mates. and have been since first year. they've just sort of been friends since then, or maybe they've more recently grown from dorm/class mates into really good friends. i think that vin would ask for help with homework and stuff, and definitely talk enough for the both of them. her liking the dark arts wouldn't matter much to vin, she doesn't mind that much. and would be completely oblivious even if she started showing signs that she was going to become a dark witch. but yeah, she wouldn't mind.
